Hamburg Port Authority: Increase port charges from 2024!
Due to persistently high inflation and rising prices, the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) will increase port charges by an average of 6.5% from January 1,2024.
Through the new port dues, the Port Authority aims to Simplify the tariff structure. In addition, the previous temporary bulk purchase discounts will cancel funding, extend and increase quantities, according to the HPA announcement.
Friedrich Stuhrmann, chief commercial officer of HPA, said:"Our goal is to provide efficient infrastructure for customers in Hamburg Port. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to adjust port charges according to the development of construction prices."
In addition, the HPA announced that in inland waterway shipping, under certain conditions, if the relevant ships generate electricity in an environmentally friendly way, they will be exempted from a large amount of fees for a limited period of time before the end of 2028.
