Egypt's inflation rate in August increased by nearly 40% year-on-year

Egypt's inflation rate hit 39.7% in August, the highest level in a year, and the country's economic crisis continued to worsen due to slow progress on reforms demanded by creditors.

Food prices in the country rose 71.9 percent in a year, while clothing prices rose 23.6 percent. Inflation in Egypt has continued to rise for months, compounded by a nearly 50 percent devaluation of the currency.

Since the vast majority of Egyptian goods are imported in US dollars, the appreciation of the US dollar against the national currency has a direct impact on households.

       8月份，埃及的通货膨胀率达到39.7%，达到一年来的最高水平，由于债权人要求进行的改革进展缓慢，埃及的经济危机持续恶化。

       一年内，该国食品价格上涨了71.9%，服装价格上涨了23.6%。几个月来，埃及的通货膨胀率持续上升，货币贬值近50%更是雪上加霜。

       由于埃及绝大多数商品都是以美元进口的，因此美元相对于本国货币的升值对家庭产生了直接影响。
