Indonesia will impose anti-dumping import duties on plastic packaging imported from China and Malaysia!
Recently, Indonesia Biaxially Oriented Film Association (ABOFI) said that in order to control the proliferation of plastic film imports, it is planning to impose anti-dumping import duties (BMAD) on plastic packaging imported from China and Malaysia.
"Anti-dumping investigations into imports from Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and China have shown that imports generally enter at dumped prices lower than Indonesian industrial production prices," said Santoso Samudra, chairman of ABOFI.
According to the findings of the Indonesian Anti-Dumping Commission, BMAD must be implemented immediately for imported products that have been proved to use dumped prices. In addition, Indonesia's Minister of Trade Supervision (Permendag) Document No.1 also mentioned that a limited import ban on plastic raw materials was imposed.
According to the data of Indonesia's import and export trade in January 2024 released by the BPS of Indonesia, the export was US $20.52 billion, down 8.34% from the previous month, and the import was US $18.51 billion, down 3.13%. Among them, the import of oil and gas products was US $2.7 billion, down 19.99%; Imports of non-oil and gas products reached US $15.81 billion, an increase of 0.48%.
