Recently,“2023 cross-border electronic commerce Development Report" analyzes the development status of global cross-border electronic commerce since 2020, and measures the cross-border e-commerce ecological environment of major global economies by constructing a cross-border e-commerce ecological index.
This report ranks the top 50 global cross-border e-commerce platforms according to a number of indicators. The top 10 include Walmart (North America), Amazon (North America), Home Depot (North America), Alibaba Group (Asia), JD.com (Asia), Target (North America), BestBuy (North America), Coupang (North America), Otto Group (Europe) and Rakuten (Asia).
The report found that after 2020, the scale of e-commerce retail sales in major global economies has increased rapidly, and the proportion of e-commerce retail sales in total retail sales has also increased significantly. Cross-border e-commerce has become one of the components of digital trade, and it has increasingly become an important means for global economies to cultivate trade growth points.
In China, e-commerce has been developing for more than 20 years, and most of the available traffic has been exploited. As China's e-commerce industry reaches saturation, some emerging foreign markets are becoming more and more attractive.
There are many countries in the world, and each country has different levels of e-commerce development. Developed countries such as Europe and the United States have relatively mature e-commerce infrastructure, and regions such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East are similar to the early stage of Taobao in China, so there are many untapped opportunities waiting to be developed.
