Egypt: Suspend tariffs on some necessities for six months!
According to the North African Post, Egyptian Prime Minister MostafaMadbouly recently announced that the government has decided to suspend tariffs on various basic commodities for six months from Saturday (October 21st) to curb inflation.
At a news conference that day, Madbouli said prices for seven basic commodities would be reduced by 15 to 25 percent. According to Pyramid Online, these include beans, dairy products, white cheese, mixed oil, pasta, jelly beans, poultry products, eggs and rice.
Madbouli said that this measure will have a positive impact on the supply of necessities and market stability, and prevent inflation, especially food prices.
In addition, Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir, who attended the news conference, said the government would seek to further simplify the procedures for the release of imported goods from ports. Egypt's cabinet recently issued a statement saying that in the first nine months of this year, Egyptian ports released $53.7 billion in imported goods.

在当天的新闻发布会上,马德布利称,七种基本商品的价格将降低15%至25%。据金字塔在线报道,这些商品包括豆类、乳制品、白奶酪、混合油、面食、糖豆、家禽产品、鸡蛋和大米。
马德布利表示,这一举措将对必需品供应和市场稳定产生积极影响,遏制通货膨胀特别是食品价格上涨。
此外,出席新闻发布会的贸易和工业部长艾哈迈德·萨米尔(Ahmed Samir)表示,政府将寻求进一步简化进口货物从港口放行的程序。埃及内阁日前发表声明称,今年前9个月,埃及港口放行了537亿美元进口货物。
