Vietnam approves $1.7 billion plan to build a new inland container transfer station

It is estimated that by 2030, the Vietnamese government will invest 1.7 billion US dollars to build more inland container transfer stations.

It is reported that according to the ICD development plan for 2021-2030 and the target for 2050 recently approved by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, having more ICDs will meet the import and export demand, reduce logistics costs, shorten the storage period of port goods, improve processing capacity and ensure cargo safety.

In 2022, Vietnam's container throughput was 25.09 million TEU, an increase of 5% over 2021, which was the slowest growth year since the global financial crisis in 2009. As the impact of the epidemic eased, the throughput is expected to recover.
