Long Beach Port's cargo volume is moderate during the peak season

Due to the backlog of warehouse inventory, consumer demand continues to turn to tourism and other summer activities, but the annual "peak" shipping season is quite mild in Long Beach Port.

Last month, dockers and terminal operators in Long Beach moved 682,312 TEUs, down 15.4 percent from August 2022. The number of empty containers passing through the California port fell 12.5 percent to 263,474 TEUs. Freight volumes this year are still at the same level as pre-pandemic levels, according to the port's announcement.

Mario Cordero, chief executive of Long Beach Port, said:"As our cargo volume continues to stabilize at pre-pandemic levels, we expect a modest peak season."
