Maersk will Expand Wharf in Egypt



Egypt's president recently signed a concession contract for Port East Said Container Terminal 2 to Suez Canal Container Terminal, which is owned and operated by APM Terminals, a terminal brand owned by Maersk Group. Under the contract, Maersk will spend 500 million US dollars to expand the terminal in Egypt.


It is reported that according to the World Bank report, East Said Port handles nearly 80% of Egypt's container transit trade volume, and the container handling efficiency ranks 10th in the world in 2022. The No.2 container terminal project covers an area of 511,000 square meters and the berth length is 955 meters.


Suez Canal Container Terminal has a berth length of 2,400 meters and a yard area of 1.2 million square meters. It is the main operating body of East Said Port, with an annual throughput of 4 million TEU. This expansion will add 2 million TEU throughput capacity.

       近日,埃及总统签署东塞得港2号集装箱码头特许权合约,将其授予苏伊士运河集装箱码头,该码头由马士基集团旗下码头品牌APM Terminals拥有与营运。根据合约,马士基将斥资5亿美元在埃及扩建码头。


       据世界银行报告,东塞得港承载埃及将近80%的集装箱过境贸易量,2022年集装箱装卸效率在全球排名第十。2号集装箱码头项目占地51.1万平方米,泊位长955米。


       苏伊士运河集装箱码头现有码头营运泊位长2400米,堆场面积120万平方米,是东塞得港的主要营运主体,年吞吐量400万TEU,此次扩建将新增200万TEU吞吐能力。
