Asia-Europe routes drive DHL's 2024 revenue growth
DHL's air cargo volume climbed in the fourth quarter due to increased demand for regular peak season business and Red Sea related and e-commerce, while demand for Asian and European trade routes boosted overall results in 2024.
DHL reported an 8.1% year-on-year increase in air cargo volume in the fourth quarter to 468,000 tonnes.Air cargo revenue in the Global Freight Forwarding (GFF) segment increased 16.4% to 1.6 billion euros in the fourth quarter, and gross profit increased 21.3%.
Total revenue of the GFF segment in the fourth quarter increased by 12% year-on-year to 5 billion euros.
Asia and Europe to drive sales growth in 2024
Air cargo volume for the full year of 2024 was 1.8 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%. DHL said the growth "mainly came from trade channels in Asia and Europe."
Air cargo revenue grew 4.1% in 2024, but gross profit fell 11.3%, with lower freight rates weighing on results earlier this year.
