DHL Australia builds a new warehouse, fully automatic to make logistics faster!
DHL Supply Chain has recently announced a series of major investment plans in Australia, aiming to build the largest automated life sciences and healthcare warehouse in the Southern Hemisphere. This move not only demonstrates DHL's leading position in the logistics field but also indicates that the Australian logistics industry will undergo a technological revolution.
DHL's investment in Australia this time is part of its $150 million robotics and automation investment plan announced in 2022. Specific projects include upgrading the life sciences and healthcare base in Horsley Park, New South Wales, adding 1,350 square meters of cold storage rooms, and introducing advanced automation technologies; carrying out automation upgrades at the base near Auckland Airport in New Zealand and equipping it with 41 Geek+ robots; and installing the Hai Robotics system in Horningsea Park, New South Wales, and operating 12 robots.
The introduction of these automated warehouses will significantly improve DHL's logistics efficiency and service quality in Australia. Through advanced automation technologies and robots, DHL can reduce human errors, shorten operation times, and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of logistics operations. Meanwhile, the introduction of automated warehouses will also optimize the customer experience, shorten delivery times, and provide customers with faster and more flexible delivery options.
This investment in automated warehouses will also have a positive impact on employees. The introduction of automation and robotics will reduce the time employees spend on routine work or physical labor such as heavy lifting, giving them the opportunity to develop skills and promote their career development. DHL stated that these production bases will adopt advanced automation technologies to ensure product accuracy and order compliance and will serve as a blueprint for DHL's future automation projects.
