International shipping company Maersk imposes peak season surcharge

Maersk announces congestion charging from around the world to Mauritius:

Due to port infrastructure problems in Port Louis, Mauritius, and large waves caused by tropical cyclones, cargo arrival delays have been serious. Maersk Line will implement destination congestion charges (CFD) for non-regulated markets from December 25, 2024 and regulated markets from January 1, 2025. The specific fees are: US $200 per container for 20-foot dry cargo containers and US $400 per container for 40-foot dry cargo containers.

Maersk announced an increase in the peak season surcharge from the world to the Indian Ocean islands and Mozambique by US $500-1,000: Maersk Line will implement a peak season surcharge (PSS) for routes from the world (excluding Far East Asia) to the Indian Ocean islands and Mozambique. The specific fee is: 20-foot dry cargo containers are US $500 per container, and 40-foot dry cargo containers are US $1,000 per container.

Maersk to impose peak season surcharge on China-Cambodia route

Recently, Danish container shipping giant Maersk announced that it will impose a peak season surcharge (PSS) on dry cargo and refrigerated containers originating from ports in eastern China (including Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Fuzhou and Yangtze River Basin) and shipped to Sihanoukville, Cambodia. According to the announcement, the new tariff level will officially take effect on December 6, 2024. At that time, all types of dry cargo and refrigerated containers, including 45-foot large containers, will be levied a surcharge of US $500 per container.
