Dachser warned customers to "start preparing now to minimize potential disruption to the supply chain" ahead of China's Golden Week.

The freight forwarding company said that from October 1st to October 7th, most enterprises and factories in China will be closed due to the Golden Week holiday, which happens to be the peak season when the capacity of air cargo is already limited.

"As one of the world's most important economies, this prolonged shutdown could have a significant impact on international supply chains," Germany-based Dachser said in a statement.

Chinese enterprises will suspend production for a week, and factories may not be able to operate at full capacity after the Golden Week.

The company said that the airport will continue to operate, but the manpower will be reduced due to the low output of the factory.

Dachser recommends that shippers communicate with suppliers and customers to assess the availability of shipments and schedule shipment bookings at least one to two weeks in advance to reduce potential supply chain disruptions.

In its customer guidance, Flexport also recommends securing air freight capacity in advance to avoid delays or missed shipments.

"As October 1 approaches, importers are rushing to complete production and ship before Golden Week. This will further limit cargo space (which is already very tight during the peak season) and push up prices for sea and air freight. Airlines The overbooking situation will be more severe than usual, which could cause cargo to be rolled over."

However, the company advises shippers to "keep in mind that this is an expensive season for air freight, and high prices and tight capacity are expected to continue".
