International shipping company Maersk calls at Sri Lankan port for the first time

On April 5,2024, Maersk Edmonton, a vessel operating on Maersk and CMA CGM's West African Express Service (WAX Service), made its first call at the East Container Terminal (ECT) of the Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA).

The new service was launched by CMA CGM Sri Lanka and was formally launched during a visit to Maersk Line and CMA CGM Dubai by a delegation led by SLPA Chairman Keith D. Bernard. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the strategy of attracting more ships to the port of Colombo.

This cooperative effort has greatly contributed to the expected success of Maersk's deployment of WAX services in Colombo, bringing growth and prosperity to both parties.

The container ship "Maersk Edmonton" built by South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries in 2011 is currently sailing under the Danish flag. The ship has a total length of 366 meters, a deadweight of 13,100 TEU, and a gross tonnage of 141,716 tons.

Currently, CMA CGM has 13 ships deployed in the WAX service, and Maersk Line has provided 8 ships. 

国际海运公司马士基首次停靠斯里兰卡港

       2024年4月5日，Maersk Edmonton，一艘在Maersk和CMA CGM的西非快递服务(WAX服务)中运营的船只，在斯里兰卡港务局(SLPA)的东集装箱码头(ECT)首次停靠。

       这项新服务是由达飞斯里兰卡公司发起的，并在由SLPA主席Keith D. Bernard率领的代表团访问马士基航运公司和达飞迪拜公司期间正式成立。访问的目的是讨论吸引更多船只到科伦坡港的战略。

       这一合作努力极大地促进了马士基在科伦坡部署WAX服务的预期成功，为双方带来了增长和繁荣。

       韩国现代重工(Hyundai Heavy Industries)于2011年建造的集装箱船“马士基埃德蒙顿”(Maersk Edmonton)目前在丹麦国旗下航行。该船全长366米，载重量13100标准箱，总吨位141716吨。

       目前，CMA CGM在WAX服务中部署了13艘船，马士基航运提供了8艘船。
