Freight in the Middle East is seriously delayed and backlogged by bad weather

The Persian Gulf region has experienced several consecutive days of abnormal weather in recent days, which has raised serious concerns among shipping and air transport stakeholders. These extreme weather conditions not only constitute a further blow to supply chains that have been frustrated by geopolitical pressure, but also It has brought a lot of inconvenience to freight and shipping activities in this region.

At the same time, many ports in the region, including Jebel Ali, have had to deal with berthing delays due to extreme weather conditions. This has not only caused ships to be unable to load and unload cargo on time, but also further exacerbated the backlog of cargo.

"Road freight is still disrupted in many places," said a freight forwarder. Due to the impact of heavy rain and floods, roads in some areas have been submerged, making trucks impassable. Authorities are rapidly clearing the affected road network to resume road freight as soon as possible normal operation.

Despite many challenges, sources from container shipping companies pointed out that the current operating conditions of major port terminals in the area are close to normal. Most port operations have been operating normally, but due to the impact of previous floods, some cargo has still been delayed.

At the same time, the air cargo industry has also been severely impacted by heavy rains and storms. It is reported that this is the worst weather disaster experienced by the United Arab Emirates in 75 years. Dubai Airport, one of the busiest aviation hubs in the world, was hit by the storm. The runway was severely flooded, resulting in widespread flight cancellations and diversions in the past two days.

The abnormal weather in the Persian Gulf region has brought many challenges and uncertainties to the stakeholders of shipping and air transportation. However, with the gradual improvement of the situation and the active response of relevant departments, it is believed that freight and shipping activities in this region will soon return to normal.
