Operations of international shipping ports in many European countries are interrupted

Freight forwarding giant Kuehn announced on its official website that on April 15, several major international shipping ports in Europe fell into operational interruption due to the impact of a strong storm.

At 9 a.m., DP World Southampton of Southampton, England, decided to suspend ship operations, although it will still provide land service at a low productivity.

Likewise, the Port of Liverpool also issued a notice that due to the impact of strong winds in the early morning, the operation of Pier 1 and Pier 2 has been completely stagnated. Strong winds are expected to continue throughout the day and most of the evening on the 15th.

Rotterdam Terminal in the Netherlands was also hit by strong winds. For safety reasons, the Port of Rotterdam announced the suspension of operations at 11 o'clock on April 15. In addition, APM Terminals Maasvlakte II also closed its operations at noon.

Container shipping and ship operations are expected to inevitably face delays during the rest of the 15th, Kuehn said. The temporary shutdown of these important European ports will undoubtedly bring considerable challenges to the global supply chain.
