The international air carrier will cease operations on March 30

Air Malta ceased operations on March 30,2024, and expresses its heartfelt thanks to all dedicated employees for their unwavering hard work during their 50-year tenure. The airline also expresses its gratitude to all loyal customers, partners for their support over the years.

From March 29,1974, when the first Boeing 720B landed on Maltese soil on April 1,1974, until its last flight on March 30,2024, Air Malta has proudly represented Malta on the global stage.

On March 31st, a new state-owned airline named "KM Malta Airlines" took over eight A320 aircraft leased by Malta Airlines.

Founded in 1973, Air Malta is headquartered at Malta International Airport. The airline serves 36 destinations, including Europe and North Africa, as well as cargo services. According to a 2006 review by the Association of European Airlines, it has the lowest baggage loss rate among ITA members.

Malta Airlines has 10 passenger planes,9 Airbus A320 and 1 Airbus A319, and has direct flights with more than 50 cities in Europe, North Africa and the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, with more than 200 flights every week.
