The international marine cargo ship Dali carries dangerous goods?

National Transportation Safety Board said on the 27th that the investigation found that the cargo ship Dali, which caused the collapse of Baltimore Bridge, carried dangerous goods, and relevant departments were trying to deal with them.

Jennifer Homendi, President of National Transportation Safety Board, USA: On March 27th, we invited a senior dangerous goods investigator from National Transportation Safety Board to check against the cargo list. He found 56 containers containing dangerous substances, with a total of 764 tons of dangerous goods.

The 56 containers contain mainly corrosive, flammable and other dangerous materials, including lithium-ion batteries. Some containers have been damaged and leaked. The US Coast Guard says the dangerous goods pose no threat to the public.

In addition, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said that the bridge collision impacted local jobs, of which about 8,000 jobs were directly affected, and workers lost about $2 million in wages every day. Maryland Governor Wes Moore said that more than 140,000 jobs may be indirectly affected.

According to the analysis, the bridge collision incident may cause the relevant insurance companies to face billions of dollars in claims, and one of the analysts said that the claim amount may be as high as 4 billion dollars, which may set a record in the history of world shipping insurance.
