Focus on logistics newsletter-Ukraine's Black Sea shipping port has been continuously attacked

Ukraine's Black Sea international shipping port has been continuously attacked

Continued Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian Black Sea ports have led to a slowdown in Ukrainian export of marine agricultural products.

An important maritime hub in the southern Odessa region has been attacked almost daily in recent weeks, but authorities have not reported any major damage to port infrastructure.

"Last week, Russia's heavy shelling of Ukraine, especially in southern Ukraine, led to a disruption in export shipments and a slowdown in exports by water," Spike Brokers, which tracks and publishes export statistics, said on instant messaging app Telegram. It did not give exact export volumes and delivery structures. Ukraine is a traditional exporter of grains, vegetable oils and oilseeds.

Ukraine's agriculture ministry said earlier that the country's total grain exports so far in March were 4.5 million tons, slightly lower than 4.6 million tons in the same period last year. Ukraine traditionally exports about 95 percent of its grain through deep Black Sea ports, while Spike Broker reported a further decline in exports.

According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, from March 1 to 15, the total export volume of Ukrainian agricultural products by sea was 2.95 million tons, of which corn dominated.
