The international shipping port will spend $85.3 million to repair the finger wharf

Puerto Rico Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi, along with officials from the Puerto Rico Port Authority (PRPA), visited the Army Pier at Puerto Rico's Trailer Bridge this week and announced a $85.3 million investment to repair the Pier's Finger Pier.

This major investment is aimed at improving the efficiency of the terminal and strengthening the Jones Act services provided by the company to the island every week. In addition, the project is funded by CDBG-MIT infrastructure projects.

Mitch Luciano, CEO of Trailer Bridge, said: "Our business foundation begins with serving the people of Puerto Rico. As a key link in the supply chain serving the island, funded projects like this are crucial to our ability to develop and maintain service continuity. We thank elected officials for their commitment to prioritize this project and ultimately create a brighter future for Puerto Rico."

More recently, the company has invested heavily in strengthening the terminal infrastructure. These upgrades include installing new lighting, sidewalks, refurbished ramps, and providing new office space for employees and customers. In addition, Trailer Bridge has introduced a new terminal operating system to improve the visibility of equipment and cargo, while also working with a new security company to ensure a safer working environment.

In early 2021, Florida-based Trailer Bridge, a light-asset, full-service transportation provider with offices in North America and the Caribbean, signed its first 20-year lease agreement with the Port Authority of Puerto Rico, followed by a parallel long-term lease agreement for its U.S. terminal with JAXPORT in 2022.
