Greek container ship owner announces latest energy saving device

Greek container ship owner and operator Euroseas announced the successful implementation of several "energy saving devices" on its 6350 TEU container ship Marcos V.

The strategic move aims to increase fuel efficiency by about 25 percent over the ship's commercial speed range. The investment coincides with the ship's scheduled dry dock and special investigation, and is funded by the ship's charterer.

Meanwhile, the charterer has exercised its option to extend the charter term for at least seven months until August 2025. In addition, if the ship continues to be used after the current charter term, the shipowner promises to refund part of the fee to the charterer, up to 50%.

The ship is equipped with the following equipment: new spherical bow, new lighter propellers, hub vortex absorbing fins (HVAF), pre-crown blades (PSV), silicone coating of underwater parts of the ship, LED lights, autopilot upgrade with advanced ecological control and automatic control of jacket preheater.

"We are pleased to announce that the revamping of our M/V Marcos V is complete and continue our revamping plans as part of our efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our fleet," Euroseas Chairman and CEO Aristides Pittas commented.
