South Korean ship capsized in Japan with a Chinese on board 



According to Kyodo News, at about 7:00 a.m. local time on March 20, the chemical tanker "KEOYOUNGSUN" flying the flag of South Korea requested rescue near Liulian Island, Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, saying that "the ship tilted 40 degrees to the left".


Subsequently, the Department of Maritime Security sent four patrol boats and two helicopters to the location of the ship to confirm the situation. When they arrived at the scene, they found that the ship had capsized. It is reported that among the 11 crew members of the KEOYOUNG SUN, one was of Chinese nationality, two were of Korean nationality and eight were of Indonesian nationality. Nine of them were rescued and taken to hospital.


However, of the nine people rescued, only the first Indonesian crew survived and was not in danger, and the other eight were confirmed dead. Relevant personnel of the Maritime Security Department of Mensi said that all the nine crew members rescued were wearing life jackets.


At about 8:20 a.m. local time on March 21, the Maritime Security Department of Mensi found a crew member inside the ship. At present, the crew member is still being treated in hospital. The details are still unknown. Authorities continue to search for the last missing crew member.


According to Japanese media reports, the weather in the sea area was bad that day, and the Japanese Meteorological Department issued a storm warning and a big wave warning. The ship was anchored at the time of the incident.

       据日本共同社报道,当地时间3月20日上午7点左右,挂韩国船旗的化学品油船“KEOYOUNGSUN”号在日本山口县下关市六连岛附近请求救援,称“船舶向左倾斜40度”。


       随后,门司海上保安部派出4艘巡逻船和两架直升机前往船舶所在地点确认情况,在抵达现场时发现船舶已经倾覆。据悉,“KEOYOUNG SUN”号11名船员中,有1人中国籍、2人为韩国籍、8人印尼籍。其中九人获救并送往医院。


       然而,在获救的9人中,仅有最先获救的印尼籍船员幸存,没有生命危险,其余8人均已确认死亡。门司海上保安部相关人员称,获救的9名船员都穿着救生衣。


       当地时间3月21日上午8点20左右,门司海上保安部在船内发现了一名船员,目前这名船员仍在医院接受治疗,尚不清楚具体情况。有关当局还在继续搜寻最后1名失踪船员。


       据日本媒体报道,当天事发海域天气恶劣,日本气象部门发布了暴风警报和大浪预警,事发时该船处于抛锚停泊状态。
