On the 20th local time, Argentina's National Meteorological Administration issued a red alert for extreme storm weather and an orange alert for strong winds in Buenos Aires metropolitan area and its surrounding areas in the east of the country.Except for heavy rainfall and lightning, the above areas were accompanied by hail and strong gusts, with winds exceeding 100 kilometers per hour.


The provincial government of Buenos Aires said 700 people had been evacuated after heavy rains caused waterlogging and damaged homes in parts of the city. Some subway lines in Buenos Aires were delayed by the storm. Power plants suffered multiple failures due to heavy rains and strong winds, leaving nearly 70,000 users without power.


Affected by the storm, Buenos Aires two major airports into a red alert, temporarily suspended operations. After the resumption of operation, dozens of flights were cancelled or delayed.


A spokesman for the Argentine Presidential Office said that all government resources will be mobilized to ensure and meet the rescue needs of the affected areas.

       阿根廷总统府发言人表示,将调动政府所有资源保证和满足受灾地区的救援需求。
