All international shipping ports in Finland are closed for two weeks

Recently, Maersk issued an urgent notice, saying that the Finnish Transport Workers Union (AKT) plans to strike from March 11 to March 25, which will force all Finnish ports to close for two weeks. The strike will affect the operation of all Finnish ports, and will also have a wide impact on Finnish industry and service industry.

The strike will last from 6am on March 11 to 6am on March 25. This means that all goods planned to pass through Finnish ports will be seriously affected during this period.

According to foreign media reports, the strike was organized to oppose the labor legislation amendment proposed by the Finnish government, which aims to stop the transportation of goods at ports and disrupt the freight railway service. The agency estimated that about 7,000 employees will take part in the strike.

For the strike, industry associations such as Finnish Forest Industry, Finnish Science and Technology Industry and Finnish Chemical Industry strongly criticized the strike as irresponsible. Closing the port for two weeks is such a draconian measure that these companies will no longer be able to make up for the losses caused by it. The joint statement said the strike posed a serious threat to Finland's economy and caused irreparable damage.

With Finland's industry shrinking, the strike could lead to further job cuts and send the wrong signals to potential foreign investors, such as reduced orders from export companies and shrinking output. Industry associations say Finland is in recession, but the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish economies are growing, adding that the current announcement shows the need to limit Finland's right to strike politically.
