The international shipping situation in the Red Sea escalated again, causing casualties for the first time

According to Xinhua News Agency, on March 6, local time in Yemen, Houthi armed forces attacked a cargo ship sailing in the Gulf of Aden with missiles, killing at least two crew members. This is the first time since Houthi armed forces launched an attack on merchant ships in the Red Sea.

The Barbados-flagged, US-owned bulk carrier, the True Confidence, was badly damaged. Surviving crew members were forced to evacuate in lifeboats after the ship caught fire. It is believed that there were 20 crew members and three armed guards on board.

In response, Yemeni Houthi spokesman Yahya Salea issued a statement on the evening of March 6, saying that the organization fired several missiles at the "Real Confidence" cargo ship that day. The missile hit the target accurately and caused the ship to catch fire.

The British Embassy in Yemen confirmed the attack through social media. In addition, several American media quoted anonymous American officials as saying that the attack killed two crew members and injured six others. Multinational ships, including American warships, are assessing the situation and assisting in rescue work.

On the same day, the British Maritime Trade Action Office also reported that the "True Confidence" cargo ship was attacked and damaged, the crew had been forced to abandon the ship, and the "True Confidence" was in an uncontrolled state.

Before the attack on the cargo ship True Confidence, Yahya Salea, spokesman of Houthi armed forces in Yemen, issued a statement saying that Houthi armed forces would "not hesitate to expand attacks on all hostile targets". However, he did not mention the time of the attack or the name of the attacked ship.

       而在“True Confidence”号货船遇袭之前，也门胡塞武装发言人叶海亚·萨雷亚发表声明表示，胡塞武装将“毫不犹豫地扩大对所有敌对目标的袭击”。但他未提及袭击时间和遭袭船只的名称。
