Nike reaches agreement with French shipping company CMA CGM

Nike, a global leader in apparel and sportswear, recently struck a deal with French shipping company CMA CGM to buy environmentally friendly biofuels to meet some of its shipping needs. It marks a major step towards decarbonizing its supply chain.

From July 1,2023 to May 31,2024, Nike plans to use sustainable biofuels to transport 36% of its goods with CMA CGM. Nike aims to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 25,000 tons, taking a substantial step towards promoting more environmentally friendly sustainable practices. 

"We are pleased to announce cooperation with Nike to reduce the carbon footprint of its maritime transportation. This initiative seamlessly connects with CMA CGM Group's comprehensive decarbonization strategy, and is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and supporting our customers to decarbonize the supply chain. It marks valuable progress in the commitment of the two companies to sustainable development," said a CMA CGM spokesman.

CMA CGM Group is committed to achieving the goal of net zero emissions, reducing carbon emissions by adopting low-carbon alternative energy sources such as biofuels, liquefied natural gas and biomethane, and offsetting any remaining emissions through environmental projects.

"Working with a key company like Nike has taken an important step towards decarbonization, which is an important achievement. We believe that our success will act as a catalyst to encourage other operators and customers to join us and accelerate the transition to net zero industry," said Olivier NIVOIX, executive vice president of routes of CMA CGM Group. 

耐克与法国海运公司CMA CGM达成协议

       耐克是全球服装和运动服装领域的领导者，最近与法国海运公司CMA CGM达成协议，购买环保生物燃料，以满足其部分海运需求。这标志着耐克向供应链脱碳迈出了重要一步。

       从2023年7月1日开始，到2024年5月31日，耐克计划利用可持续生物燃料与CMA CGM运输36%的货物。耐克的目标是减少2.5万吨的二氧化碳排放量，朝着促进更环保的可持续实践迈出实质性的一步。

       “我们很高兴地宣布与耐克合作，减少其海上运输的碳足迹。这一举措与CMA CGM集团的全面脱碳战略无缝对接，致力于到2050年实现净零排放，并支持我们的客户实现供应链脱碳。它标志着两家公司在可持续发展方面的承诺取得了宝贵的进展，”达飞轮船发言人称。

       达飞集团致力于实现净零排放的目标，通过采用生物燃料、液化天然气和生物甲烷等低碳替代能源来减少碳排放，并通过环境项目抵消任何剩余的排放。
