Gothenburg Port, the largest international freight hub in Sweden
The Gothenburg region tops the annual rankings of major logistics locations in Sweden, with Smart Logistics saying the port of Gothenburg, Sweden's largest freight hub, played a key role in the award. The Gothenburg region topped the rankings for the 23rd time since 2001.
"We are delighted and proud to once again be named the best logistics location in Sweden. Together with other logistics players in the region, we have worked throughout the year to create additional conditions for innovative and growing freight hubs to strengthen the competitiveness of Sweden's foreign trade regionally and nationally," said Jacob Minnhagen, senior market development manager at the Port Authority of Gothenburg.
Gothenburg Port, which accounts for more than 55% of Sweden's total container throughput, has maintained steady growth. After 13 consecutive quarters of container throughput growth, the port achieved a record performance in 2023, handling 914,000 containers throughout the year.
In the past five years,780,000 square meters of new districts were added, and 182,000 square meters were added in 2024, which further consolidated the leading position of Gothenburg in intelligent logistics evaluation.
"Our region focuses on multi-party cooperation. For example, we work closely with Landvit Airport in Sweden, Bor å s Business District, Gothenburg Business District, etc. to strengthen our attractiveness to commercial organizations. There is a competent labor force, good infrastructure and land that can be built, which can be built now and in the future." Jacob Minnhagen added.
