Britain went on strike again

The British Rail, Shipping and Transport Workers' Union, the largest trade union in the British transport industry, said that from March 1, the British Rail Public Transport will go on strike again, when hundreds of trains will be shut down. On March 4 and March 5, the whole line of London Overground was shut down.

The British Rail, Sea and Transport Workers Union says more than 300 union members now believe their wages are below the minimum standard of living amid high inflation. Mick Lynch, the union's general secretary, said union members are angry about pay below inflation and that if the dispute cannot be resolved, then the union is ready for a strike action that lasts for some time to get London Underground workers the pay increase they deserve.

Since the British national railway strike began in the summer of 2022, frequent outages have seriously affected people's travel, and also caused losses to British hotel industry, tourism and other industries.

In addition, due to the persistent salary dispute with the government, the strike of junior doctors in the British National Health Service (NHS) from February 24th is continuing. According to British media, junior doctors account for about 50% of all NHS doctors. Although hospitals have made relevant arrangements before the strike, the latest strike is expected to cause widespread medical system chaos again.

The strike at Heathrow Airport in Britain has also attracted public attention. As the new CEO of Heathrow Airport vigorously promotes the outsourcing plan of security personnel to cut costs, the airport is threatened with serious strike action.
