International shipping company Folk Maritime was established

Recently, Saudi Arabia established a brand-new container shipping company "Folk Maritime", which will strengthen the connectivity between Saudi ports and ports along the Red Sea.

Folk Maritime, headquartered in Riyadh, is headed by CEO Poul Hestbaek, who was the CEO of Hamburg South America. The last duty in his 20-year career in container shipping company was to integrate Hamburg South America brand into Maersk. He left Maersk in mid-2023.

Folk Maritime aims to revolutionize the shipping landscape in the region, becoming the country's first dedicated feeder operator. It says it will provide leading feeder and short-haul shipping services in and around the Middle East, further consolidating Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub.

The company's operations will start with two Red Sea route services, one of which is called "NRS", which is two 2500TEU container ships connecting weekly between major Saudi ports such as Jeddah, Neom, Aqaba and Yambu Port, and extending to Ain Sokhna in Egypt. The other service, called "PSS", is a smaller 700TEU container ship that makes a fortnightly trip to and from Sudan.

The establishment of Folk Maritime represents a great leap for Saudi Arabia's shipping industry, which is expected to enrich Saudi Arabia's economic structure and promote greater connectivity of the Red Sea.

       日前，沙特阿拉伯成立了一家全新的集装箱航运公司“Folk Maritime”，将加强沙特港口与红海沿岸港口的连通性。

       据悉，Folk Maritime总部位于利雅得，由首席执行官Poul Hestbaek领导，他曾任汉堡南美首席执行官，在集装箱航运公司二十年的职业生涯中的最后一项职责是将汉堡南美的品牌整合到马士基。他于2023年年中离开马士基。

       Folk Maritime旨在彻底改变该地区的航运格局，成为该国第一家专门的支线运营商。表示将在中东及周边地区提供领先的支线和短途海运服务，进一步巩固沙特阿拉伯作为全球物流枢纽的地位。

       该公司的业务将从两条红海航线服务开始，其中一条服务名为“NRS”，是2艘2500TEU集装箱船，每周在吉达、Neom、亚喀巴、延布港等沙特主要港口之间连接，并延伸到埃及的Ain Sokhna。另一条服务名为“PSS”是一艘较小的700TEU集装箱船，每两周往返一次苏丹。

       Folk Maritime的成立代表了沙特阿拉伯海运业的重大飞跃，有望丰富沙特的经济格局，同时促进红海的更大连通性。
