Strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Germany and India

The positive development of economic relations between Germany and India in recent years has led to a significant increase in imports and exports between the two countries. Hamburg Port is expected to set a new record for seaborne cargo throughput with India in 2023.

Taking advantage of this optimistic trend, representatives of Hamburg Port seized the opportunity to strengthen relations at a reception held in Mumbai, India.

"We are pleased that more than 100 guests have accepted our invitation. This shows how important personal dialogue is to maintain and expand business relations. In view of the positive development of trade relations between India and Hamburg Port, we believe that the exchange of goods will continue to increase," said Axel Matten, a member of Hamburg Port Marketing (HHM) Executive Committee.

At present, Hamburg Port maintains contact with India through 11 liner services, including 5 container liner services,3 vehicle transport services and 3 bulk cargo services to meet the demand of heavy cargo.

In addition, there are seven container routes and one multi-purpose liner route to Colombo Port in Sri Lanka, which is an important port for transshipment with India. The average transit time between Hamburg and the Indian subcontinent is about two weeks on the west coast and three weeks on the east coast.

According to Hamburg Port's statement, the deepening trade links between Germany's major ports and India highlight the success of cooperation and show the potential for sustained growth between these economic regions.

       近年来，德国和印度之间经济关系的积极发展导致两国之间的进出口大幅增加。汉堡港预计在2023年与印度的海运货物吞吐量将创下新纪录。

       目前，汉堡港通过11条班轮服务与印度保持联系，其中包括5条集装箱班轮服务、3条车辆运输服务和3条散货服务，以满足重型货物的需求。

       此外，还有7条集装箱航线和1条多用途班轮航线通往斯里兰卡的科伦坡港，科伦坡港是与印度转运的重要港口。汉堡和印度次大陆之间的平均运输时间为西海岸两周左右，东海岸三周左右。

       据汉堡港的声明，德国主要港口与印度之间不断深化的贸易联系突显了合作的成功，并表明了这些经济区域之间持续增长的潜力。
