Brazil, an international shipping port, has resumed operation

An important agricultural export terminal in the southern Brazilian port of Paranagua resumed operations on Saturday after a fire broke out at the port earlier this week, temporarily shutting down three berths.

The local port authority said in a statement that at 1 pm local time (1600 GMT), the operation of the Paranagua exit corridor resumed, with berths 212 and 213 for export business and berth 214 for import business.

The Port Authority said it is currently carrying out maintenance on the affected equipment, which is also expected to fully resume operation in the next few days.

"All berths are operating," the company added. "The cause of the fire will be investigated by authorities."
