An important milestone in EU international logistics and transportation network

Recently, the integrated status of Stockholm's Port of Novick marks an important milestone after the EU ratified the agreement on regulations for the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TENT).

As an integral part of the EU transport network, this status enables Swedish ports to seek financing opportunities from the EU, paving the way for further strengthening sustainable transportation and becoming a key energy hub.

In late December, the European Commission praised the political agreement reached between the European Parliament and the Council on regulations governing the Trans-European Transport Network (TENT). The new TENT regulations are expected to come into effect around April 2024, with several Baltic ports poised to change status and Stockholm's Port of Novick elevated to integrated status.

The development, which enables Stockholm ports and stakeholders to seek and access EU funding, aims to strengthen infrastructure and services at Stockholm's Novik port, which is strategically located in the Baltic Sea. These initiatives are critical to promoting job creation and promoting more sustainable practices for businesses operating in the region.

"This is a very welcome decision and Stockholm Novik Port will now have that status in the EU transport network. Important in our development is the possibility of applying for external funding and this decision gives us additional authority to maintain and develop Stockholm Novik as the most advanced port in the future," said Magdalena Bosson, chief executive officer of Stockholm Ports.
