Dubai Global Port Group receives the largest wharf crane in Europe

DP World has taken over Europe's largest wharf cranes at its flagship logistics hub, London Gateway, in its latest investment to boost the UK's future trading capacity. The 2,000-tonne giant cranes will be put into service this summer at a new fourth berth at London Gateway.

Two months from China, the dock cranes successfully unloaded their cargo at London Gateway on February 21. The cranes are expected to be in operation for at least 25 years and are capable of serving the world's largest ships today, including 24,000 TEU container ships, as well as larger ships in the future.

Ahsan Agha, vice president of port operations at London Gateway of Dubai World Ports Company, said:"Although our customers will choose us because of our growing capacity, our service quality is also the reason for them to stay. Due to the capacity to be provided by the wharf crane and the new fourth berth, the service of London Gateway will stand the test in the next few years."

Dubai Global Port Group said that these cranes are the largest and most advanced in Europe, equipped with the latest automation technology, and can complete series lifting, loading and unloading two 40-foot boxes or four 20-foot boxes at a time.

Two other dock cranes are expected to dock at London Gate Pier in early summer. Before that, automatic stacking cranes (ASCs) and electric straddle carriers will also be put into use at the new fourth berth.

       从中国出发，历时两个月，码头起重机于2月21日在伦敦门户成功卸货。这些起重机预计将至少运行25年，其规模可以服务于世界上目前最大的船舶，包括24000 TEU集装箱船，以及未来更大的船舶。

       迪拜环球港务集团表示，这些起重机是欧洲最大、最先进的，配备了最新的自动化技术，能够完成串联升降，一次装卸两个40英尺的箱子或四个20英尺的箱子。

       另外两台码头起重机预计将于初夏在伦敦门码头停靠。在此之前，自动堆垛起重机(ASCs)和电动跨运船也将在新的第四个泊位投入使用。
