Etihad International Air Transport Company obtained lithium battery certification

Etihad Cargo is certified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Center of Excellence for Independent Verifiers of Lithium Batteries (CEIV li-battery). The airline is the third Middle East airline to receive the certification and the fifth airline globally to receive CEIV certification for pharmaceutical, fresh, live animals and lithium batteries.

CEIV Lithium Battery Certification represents an airline's ability to handle and transport lithium batteries to the highest standards of safety and efficiency. Certification includes an assessment of the airline's operational processes, staff training programs, and compliance with global safety regulations, including extensive audits by independent certification bodies.

Thomas, head of cargo operations and distribution at Etihad Cargo Department, said: "According to the data of International Air Transport Association, lithium batteries account for one-third of dangerous goods transported by air and have become the preferred energy source for various consumer goods, including mobile phones, cars, electric bicycles and children's toys."

There are strict regulatory requirements for handling and transporting these materials by air.
