Effective in early February! In response to the Red Sea situation, MSC route adjustment!
On January 26th, a finished oil tanker operated by Trafigura, a commodity trader, was attacked by Houthi armed forces, and the cargo hold caught fire.
Yahya Sariah, military spokesman of Houthi armed forces in Yemen, confirmed that its maritime forces fired missiles at a British oil tanker "Marlin Luanda" in the Gulf of Aden and hit the target, causing the ship to catch fire.
The Marshall Islands-flagged tanker was reportedly hit in the attack. The Marlin Luanda sailed from Morocco and passed through the Suez Canal last weekend. It is now heading for Singapore. The incident occurred 60 nautical miles southeast of Aden, Yemen, and all crew members are safe.
MSC has temporarily halted eastbound and westbound crossings of the Suez Canal due to current conditions in the Red Sea. To mitigate the impact of the diversion on its sailing schedule, the company is adjusting its east-west routes.
The changes include changing the rotation and adding ships to minimize disruption and ensure a more efficient sailing schedule through the Cape of Good Hope. The updated rotation will take effect in early February.
