Latest response! China pushes the situation in the Red Sea to cool down

On January 24, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin held a regular press conference. In response to concerns about the situation in the Red Sea, Wang said that we are deeply concerned about the recent sharp warming of the situation in the Red Sea. The Red Sea is an important channel for international trade in goods and energy. China has maintained close communication with all parties and made active efforts to ease tensions in the Red Sea.

Wang Wenbin said that China calls for stopping harassing vigilante groups, and urges relevant parties to avoid adding fuel to the tension in the Red Sea and jointly safeguard the waterway safety in the Red Sea waters according to law.

At the same time, we also believe that the Security Council has never authorized any country to use force against Yemen, and we should earnestly respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries along the Red Sea, including Yemen. China is willing to work with all parties to cool down the situation and maintain security and stability in the Red Sea region.

Earlier, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said that the Red Sea waters are an important international trade channel for goods and energy, and we call for stopping harassing civilian ships and maintaining the smooth flow of global production and supply chains and international trade order.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that the tension in the Red Sea is a prominent manifestation of the spillover of the conflict in Gaza, so it is imperative to try our best to quell the war in Gaza and prevent the conflict from further expanding or even getting out of control.
