Tesla stops production! Red Sea Crisis Leads to Shortage of Parts

Tesla recently announced that the Berlin super factory in Germany will suspend most of its automobile production from January 29 to February 11 because of the shortage of spare parts due to the Red Sea crisis. The factory will resume production on February 12. However, the company did not respond to the details of the shortage of spare parts or how to resume production.

"The armed conflict in the Red Sea and related changes in transportation routes between Europe and Asia around the Cape of Good Hope have had an impact on the production work at the Glenhead plant," Tesla said. The extended transportation time has caused a gap in the supply chain. "The disruption of production at the factory has brought more pressure to Tesla.

Volvo Cars said it would suspend production at its plant in Ghent, Belgium, for three days due to supply chain delays caused by the Red Sea situation, following Tesla's announcement that most of its car production work was suspended at its Berlin plant, Reuters reported.

It is the second company after Tesla to disclose disruptions in production due to the Red Sea clash. A company spokesman said car deliveries, production targets and another European plant in Gothenburg, Sweden, were not affected by the production suspension.

Tesla became the first company to halt production following recent attacks on ships in the Red Sea by Yemeni Houthi forces. The shutdown shows that the crisis has hit Germany. Other companies, such as Geely and IKEA of Sweden, have also announced delays in deliveries.
