Houthi armed forces officially attacked escort warships

According to CCTV news, on the afternoon of the 10th local time, Houthi armed forces in Yemen issued a statement saying that Houthi armed forces launched an attack against US warships through missiles and drones the night before in retaliation for the sinking of three Houthi speedboats on December 31st last year, which killed 10 people.

It is reported that there are three US warships and one British warship attacked by Houthi armed forces. Because missiles and drones were successfully intercepted, no damage was caused to warships and their personnel. This is the first time that Houthi armed forces launched military operations against US warships in the Red Sea.

In the waters near Hodeidah, ships reportedly said in radio communications that they had seen missiles and drones, and warships in the incident area urged "ships to move at maximum speed". In the waters near Muha, ships saw missiles fired, and there was a drone in the air, followed by small boats.

According to CNN's news report quoted by US Defense Department officials on January 9, local time, the US Navy shot down 24 missiles and drones launched by Houthi armed forces from Yemen.

The report said it was one of the largest attacks by Houthi in the Red Sea in recent months. Earlier, the United States and its allies set up an escort operation called "Prosperity Guardian". American, French and British warships patrolled the Red Sea area.
