UPS International Express will close this sorting center!

It is reported that UPS recently said that due to the decrease in cargo volume, it will close the daytime parcel sorting business at the Centennial Ground Center in Louisville, Kentucky on February 16.

The Atlanta-based company said in a statement that "parcels equate to jobs and we need to match capacity and the number of jobs to the current number of parcels."

However, locals say it is not expected to have a huge impact on its members because Centennial Class is a relatively small business, and most or all of its business volume and affected employees can be absorbed by the larger business.

FedEx had told analysts in September that it was capturing 400,000 former UPS packages a day, a slightly conservative figure, FedEx said.

Satish Jindel, president of the shipping consultancy, said he supported FedEx's view on the matter. Jindel said several shippers who switched to FedEx had told him they were no longer using UPS. Like UPS, FedEx has maintained a high level of delivery reliability, allaying concerns about unstable performance.

Most of the recaptured business comes from regional parcel delivery companies and the U.S. Postal Service, Jindel said. UPS will have a hard time resuming business from FedEx unless the latter's service is interrupted or UPS can reduce the price below FedEx's charges.

       运输咨询公司总裁Satish Jindel表示，他支持联邦快递对此事的看法。Jindel 表示，多家转用 FedEx 的托运人告诉他，他们没有再使用 UPS。与 UPS 一样，联邦快递一直保持着较高的递送可靠性水平，从而减轻了对性能不稳定的担忧。

  Jindel表示，大部分重新夺回的业务来自地区包裹递送公司和美国邮政服务。UPS 将很难从 FedEx 那里恢复业务，除非后者的服务中断或者 UPS 能够将价格降低到低于 FedEx 的收费。
