CMA is expected to surpass MSC under the Red Sea crisis
According to Alphaliner, CMACGM is about to surpass Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and become the largest operator in the Mediterranean region.
Compared with 2022, CMACGM has increased the number of ships and deployed larger ships in the Mediterranean. At present, CMACGM operates 60 ships in the Mediterranean region with a total capacity of over 96,000 TEUs, and six more ships were added in 2023. The average capacity of CMACGM deployed fleet has increased from 1,433 TEUs in 2022 to 1,677 TEUs.
CMACGM's market share in the Mediterranean region is 19.9%, second only to MSC's 22%. According to Alphaliner, CMACGM is trying to cope with the trend of carriers to reduce risks in the Mediterranean.
MSC's market share will drop from 24% in 2022 to 22% at present, while Danish operator Maersk's market share in the Mediterranean region has dropped from 15% in 2022 to 11% at present after cutting more than 10,000 TEU.
With the opening of Greek-Turkish-Libyan, Turkish-Libyan and Greek-Turkish-Poti routes, CMACGM has launched three new Mediterranean routes, adding 11,000 TEUs of capacity.
Alphaliner pointed out that CMACGM has always played an important role in services to and from North Africa, especially in the Maghreb region. Compared with 2022, CMACGM's capacity to the Maghreb increased by 40.4%.

据Alphaliner称,达飞轮船(CMACGM)即将超越地中海航运公司(MSC),成为地中海区域内最大的运营商。
与2022年相比,CMACGM已增加船只数量,在地中海部署了更大型的船舶。目前,CMACGM在地中海区域内运营着60艘船舶,总运力超过96000标准箱,2023年又增加了6艘船舶。CMACGM部署船队的平均运力已从2022年的1433标准箱增至1677标准箱。
达飞轮船(CMACGM)在地中海区域内的市场份额为19.9%,仅次于MSC的22%。据Alphaliner观察,CMACGM正在努力应对承运商减少地中海内风险的趋势。
MSC的市场份额将从2022年的24%下降到目前的22%,而丹麦运营商马士基在地中海区域内的市场份额在削减超过10000TEU后,从前年的15%下降至目前的11%。
随着希腊-土耳其-利比亚、土耳其-利比亚和希腊-土耳其-波季航线的开通,CMA CGM推出了三条新的地中海航线,增加了11000个标准箱的运力。
Alphaliner指出,CMACGM历来在往返北非,特别是在马格里布地区的服务领域中占有重要地位。与2022年相比,CMACGM前往马格里布的运力增加了40.4%。
