Most container liner shipping companies operating Asia-Europe routes have announced detours. This will lead to a substantial increase in shipping distance and cost, and a decline in ship turnover efficiency, resulting in a short-term capacity shortage.
Last week, major airlines significantly increased the market quotation, Europe and the spot booking prices immediately increased. In the future, the geopolitical situation will become a key factor affecting the Asia-Europe route transportation market.
On December 22nd, the freight rates (shipping and shipping surcharge) of Shanghai Port exported to Europe and Mediterranean base port markets were USD 1,497/TEU and USD 2,054/TEU, up by 45.5% and 30.9% respectively compared with the previous period.
