Malaysia announced that it is forbidden to dock by ZIM!
Malaysia announced on December 20 that it would ban ZIM ships and any Israeli-flagged ships from docking and unloading at its ports, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post reported. Ships heading for Israel will also be banned from loading cargo at any Malaysian port.
Malaysia's rationale: global anger over the rising Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar said in statement that the decision took effect immediately. "This ban is a response to Israel's continued attacks and atrocities against the Palestinian people in defiance of basic human rights and international law," he said, adding that he believed Malaysia's trade would not be affected by the decision.
Earlier, the CEO of ZIM said that ZIM will support the State of Israel during this difficult period, and its first task is to allocate necessary resources to assist Israel in this difficult situation.
It is reported that ZIM originated in 1945 and is headquartered in Haifa, Israel. It is a publicly held Israeli international cargo transportation company and one of the top ten shipping companies in the world. It was listed and traded on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021.
