$4.9 billion! HMM will be acquired! 

HMM sale bid finally came to an end! It is reported that the transaction may be as high as 6.4 trillion won ($4.9 billion).

Harim Group, a South Korean food group known for its poultry products, has become the preferred bidder to acquire HMM, South Korea's largest shipping company, according to South Korea's Central Daily News. 

Harim Group, one of South Korea's largest agricultural products companies, joined hands with private equity fund JKL to acquire Pan Ocean, South Korea's largest dry bulk shipping company, in 2015.

According to the industry, Harim Group participated in the bidding for HMM because it thought it could create synergy with the current business.

Oceanic shipping focuses on dry bulk cargo, while HMM pays more attention to container shipping. The freight cycles of the two are different, so the risks brought by market fluctuations will also be reduced.

49亿美元！HMM将被收购！

       HMM出售竞标终于落下帷幕！据悉，这笔交易可能高达6.4万亿韩元（49亿美元）。

       根据韩国中央日报报道，以家禽类产品闻名的韩国食品集团Harim Group，成为收购韩国第一大航运公司HMM的优先竞标者。

       Harim Group是韩国最大的农产品企业之一，该公司于2015年与私募股权投资基金JKL携手收购了韩国最大干散货航运公司泛洋海运(Pan Ocean)。

       业界认为，Harim Group之所以参加对HMM的竞购，是因为其认为可以和目前经营的事业产生协同效应。

       泛洋海运重心在干散货，而HMM则更关注集装箱航运，两者运费周期不同，因此行情波动带来的风险也将减少。
