Maersk out! Will the automobile carrier industry usher in integration?
According to Vessels Value, the revenue of automobile carriers may reach a new high in 2024, and Maersk's withdrawal from Höegh Autoliners will create opportunities for the integration of the industry.
Vessels Value pointed out that Maersk's sale of all its shares in Höegh Autoliners will bring opportunities for further development of the industry, and it is expected that the freight rate of automobile carriers will further rise to more than 150,000 US dollars/day in the coming year.
Amalgamations among European shipowners are expected in the coming years as the car carrier market changes, according to Andrea de Luca, senior business analyst at Vessels Value. The merger specifically targets Italy's Grimaldi, the world's largest ro-ro and car carrier company, with a fleet worth $10.8 billion, including new shipbuilding orders.
Naples-based Grimaldi Group, with Emmanuele Grimaldi as chief executive, acquired Spanish company Naviera Armas in 2021 and Finnlines, a Finnish ferry operation, in 2016.
However, Vessels Value also stressed that it is expected that many companies will be interested in acquiring the shares of Höegh Autoliners, which is doing well, and the automobile carrier market may further improve by 2024, and the value of the company is expected to further increase.
马士基退出!汽车运输船行业或迎来整合?
据Vessels Value预测,2024年汽车运输船的收益可能会再创新高,而马士基退出Höegh Autoliners(礼诺航运)将为该行业的整合制造机会。

不过Vessels Value也强调,预计会有很多公司对收购礼诺航运的股份感兴趣,礼诺航运经营良好,而且汽车运输船市场到2024年可能还将进一步改善,该公司价值有望进一步提高。
