Two shipping arteries are blocked! Global shipping ushered in a "catastrophic blow" 

Suez Canal and Panama Canal are the two most important shipping arteries in the world, bearing more than half of the global trade volume.

However, the severe drought has restricted the Panama Canal, and the intensification of geopolitical conflicts has forced ships to bypass the Suez Canal. A large number of cargo transportation is at risk of delay, and freight rates are rising.

Recently, marco forgione, director of the British Institute of Import and Export, said that if the conflict near Suez Canal worsens, coupled with Panama's restrictions, it will be a "disastrous blow" for global shipping.

Since the beginning of this year, the drought caused by El Ni ñ o has continuously affected the Panama Canal reservoir system, resulting in a decrease in the fresh water supply needed for the operation of ship locks. The Panama Canal Authority has repeatedly reduced the number of ships passing in a single day.

However, due to the outbreak of the current Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the risk of attack on ships passing through Suez Canal has greatly increased. Many shipping companies have changed their shipping routes to avoid the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea in order to ensure the safety of their crew, ships and cargo. 

两条航运大动脉受阻！全球海运迎来“灾难性打击”

       苏伊士运河和巴拿马运河是全球最重要的两条航运大动脉，承担着全球贸易中超过一半的贸易货量。

       然而，严重干旱使得巴拿马运河限行，地缘政治冲突加剧又迫使船只绕行苏伊士运河，大量货物运输面临延迟风险，且运费飘升。

       近期，英国进出口研究所所长marco forgione称，如果苏伊士运河附近的冲突进一步恶化，再加上巴拿马的限制，对全球海运来说将是“灾难性的打击”。

       自今年年初以来，厄尔尼诺现象造成的干旱持续影响巴拿马运河水库系统，导致船闸运行所需的淡水供应减少，巴拿马运河管理局已经多次减少单日通行船只数量。

       而穿行苏伊士运河的船只也因本轮巴以冲突的爆发，面临袭击的风险大大增加，不少船运公司为确保其船员、船舶及货物的安全，改变了船舶的航线，以避开阿拉伯海和红海地区。
