Passing through the Panama Canal? It's too blocked! Yangming Shipping will bypass! 


Recently, Yangming Shipping admitted that the impact of drought in Panama Canal is more serious than expected, and the US-East route has started to bypass the Cape of Good Hope or Suez Canal, and will not sail until it is confirmed that it has obtained the right to pass the gate. 


According to Du Shuqin, general manager of Yangming Shipping, the Panama Canal authorities have announced that the minimum navigation volume will be lowered from February next year,and the impact on container shipping will begin to increase, and liner ships must follow the bid to obtain navigation rights.


Therefore, Yangming Shipping is now adding ships to increase flight density, diverting around the Cape of Good Hope or Suez Canal, aand adding one ship to each long-distance route to maintain service. The time from Asia to the East of the United States has been lengthened from 84 days to 91 days. 


Regarding the outlook of the global container shipping market next year, Yangming Shipping said that the global shipping market continues to be affected by the increase of capacity, high inventory, international geopolitical tension and  weakening purchasing power caused by high inflation in Europe and America. The shipment tide before the Lunar New Year is still unclear, and it is necessary to continuously observe the recovery of consumer demand.


Generally speaking, the uncertain factors affecting the market still exist in the first half of 2024, and the overall operating outlook still needs to be dealt with conservatively.


Du Shuqin analyzed that the speed of new ships joining and old ships replacing in the world is unclear, and the freight rate still depends on supply and demand. In 2024, the overall view on freight rate still faces the pressure of market changes. 




通行巴拿马运河?太堵了!阳明海运将绕行!


       日前,阳明海运坦言,巴拿马运河干旱的影响比预期严重,美东航线已开始绕行好望角或苏伊士运河,除非确定取得通闸权才会航行。


       据阳明海运总经理杜书勤分析,巴拿马运河当局已宣布,明年2月起下调最低通航量,对于集装箱航运冲击开始加大,班轮也必须要跟着抢标才能获取通航权。


       因此,阳明海运现在采取加船增加航班密度,改道绕行好望角或是苏伊士运河,每个长程航线加一艘船维持服务,亚洲到美东的时间由原来的84天拉长至91天。


       关于明年全球集运市场展望,阳明海运表示,全球海运市场持续受运力增加、高库存、国际地缘政治紧张及欧美高通胀造成的购买力减弱等影响,农历春节前的出货潮目前仍不明确,需持续观察消费需求恢复情况。


      总的来看,2024上半年影响市场不确定性因素依然存在,整体营运展望仍需保守应对。


       杜书勤称,全球新船加入、旧船汰换速度不明朗,运价还是取决于供需,2024年对运价看法整体还是面临市场变动的压力。
