Red Sea threat escalates! US warships and several merchant ships were attacked 

According to the Associated Press reported on December 3, the US Department of Defense said that a US warship and several merchant ships were attacked in the Red Sea that day.

According to ABC, an American official said that the USS Carney shot down several drones flying towards it from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen in the Red Sea on December 3.

A spokesman for Yemen's Houthi armed forces issued a statement saying that "because the other side ignored its warning", it launched an attack on two Israeli ships. The first ship is the Unity Explorer, and Dan David Ungar, who lives in Israel, is one of the company's executives. The second ship, "No.9", is a container ship flying Panama flag. 

The statement also said Israeli ships would continue to be blocked from sailing in the Red and Arabian Seas until Israel halts its military operations in the Gaza Strip. Ships flying the Israeli flag, operated by Israeli companies or owned by Israeli companies would be targeted.

The recent attacks point to an intensifying spillover from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and an escalating threat to ships navigating the Red Sea, especially as the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas expires and Israel expands its military operations in the Gaza Strip, raising the risk of attacks on ships at sea.

       据美国广播公司(ABC)报道，一名美国官员表示，美国“卡尼”号驱逐舰12月3日在红海击落了几架从也门胡塞武装控制地区朝其飞来的无人机。

       也门胡塞武装发言人对此发表声明称,“因对方无视其警告”，所以对两舰以色列船只发动攻击”。第一艘船是“团结探索者”号，居住在以色列的丹·大卫·翁加尔(Dan David Ungar)是该公司高管之一。第二艘船“9号”，悬挂巴拿马国旗的集装箱船。

       声明还称，将继续阻止以色列船只在红海和阿拉伯海航行，直到以色列停止对加沙地带的军事行动。悬挂以色列旗帜的船只、由以色列公司运营的船只或由以色列公司拥有的船只，都将成为被袭击的目标。

       近期的袭击事件表明，巴以冲突的外溢效应加强，船只在红海水域航行时面临的威胁升级。尤其是目前以色列和哈马斯的临时停火协议到期，以及以色列在加沙地带扩大军事行动，海上船舶遭到袭击的风险不断攀升。
