As the shopping season approaches, what is the volume of goods in the western ports of the United States?

Los Angeles Port (LA) and Long Beach Port (LB), the two major ports in West American, released the data for October this year. The container throughput of both ports increased year on year in October, further indicating that the ports in West American are trying to regain market share.

The container throughput of Los Angeles Port in October was 726,000 TEU, up 7.0% year-on-year. Among them, the import of heavy containers increased by 10.7% to 372,000 TEU, and the export of heavy containers increased by 35.2% to 121,000 TEU. In addition, the number of empty containers smashed through Los Angeles decreased by 8.1% to 232,000 TEU.

The container throughput of Long Beach Port reached 755,000 TEU in October, up 14.7% from the same period of last year. Among them, the import of heavy containers increased by 23.6% to 363,000 TEU, while the export of heavy containers decreased by 24.8% to 90,000 TEU. In addition, the number of empty containers passing through Long Beach Port increased by 23.3% to 302,000 TEU. 

Mario Cordero, CEO of Long Beach Port, said,"Freight volume is rebounding, and moderate growth is expected for the rest of this year as retailers continue to stock up for the holiday shopping season."

       美西两大港口洛杉矶港(LA)和长滩港(LB)相继公布今年10月份数据。两港10月份的集装箱吞吐量均实现同比增长，进一步表明美西港口正在努力夺回市场份额。

       洛杉矶港10月集装箱吞吐量为72.6万TEU，同比增长7.0%。其中进口重箱增长10.7%至37.2万TEU，出口重箱增长35.2%至12.1万TEU。此外，通过洛杉矶港的空箱数量下降了8.1%,至23.2万TEU。

       长滩港今年10月份集装箱吞吐量达到75.5万TEU，较去年同期增长14.7%。其中进口重箱增长23.6%至36.3万TEU，出口重箱同比下降24.8%至9.0万TEU。此外，通过长滩港的空箱数量增长23.3%，至30.2万TEU。

       长滩港首席执行官Mario Cordero称：“货运量正在反弹，随着零售商继续为假日购物季备货，预计今年剩余时间将出现温和增长。”
