Containers contain drugs,318kilograms, about HK $390 million!
The Customs and Excise Department recently announced that a joint operation between the Customs and the police seized 318 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated market value of about HK $390 million, from a cargo ship moored at Kwai Chung Container Terminal, CCTV News reported. Two men on board were arrested and the case is still under investigation.
According to foreign media, the cargo ship under investigation is "Kota Pusaka", an 11,923TEU container ship flying the flag of Hong Kong, China, owned by PIL Taiping Shipping. A spokesman for Taiping Shipping confirmed to Container News that "Kota Pusaka" was indeed searched by Hong Kong police on November 7.
The ship docked at Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala on September 25. The ship serves the Asia-South America route, involving calls to Chinese ports such as Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Hong Kong and Kaohsiung, and has left Hong Kong.
Recently, the Customs and Excise Department has cracked many cases related to drug concealment in containers, and a large number of cases related to drug transportation in containers have been reported. The number of drug smuggling at sea and the degree of violence are on the rise.
The frequent cases of drugs in containers have sounded the alarm for freight forwarders. Logistics enterprises must be careful when receiving goods, strengthen the awareness of risk control, and do a good job in real-name registration, unpacking inspection, anti-drug training, X-ray machine inspection and other security work to avoid being used by drug dealers.
集装箱夹藏毒品，318公斤约3.9亿港币！
据央视新闻消息，香港海关近日发布消息表示，海关及警方采取联合行动，在一舰停泊在葵涌货柜码头的货船上，查获318公斤用防水材料进行真空包装的可卡因，估计市值约3.9亿港元。船上两名男子被捕，案件仍在调查中。
据外媒消息，被查的货船为PIL太平船务旗下的一艘悬挂中国香港旗的11,923TEU集装箱船“Kota Pusaka”。太平船务发言人向媒体Container News证实，“Kota Pusaka”号确实在11月7日被香港警方搜查。
该船于9月25日停靠危地马拉的Puerto Quetzal港口。这艘船服务于亚洲-南美航线，涉及挂靠中国上海、宁波、蛇口、香港以及高雄等港口，目前该船已离港。
近期，香港海关已破获多起集装箱夹藏毒品相关的案件，大量关于集装箱运毒案件的报道，海上走私毒品的数量和暴力程度都在上升。
