CMA CGM announces its third quarter financial report!

The report shows that CMA CGM Group achieved operating income of 11.43 billion US dollars in the third quarter, a year-on-year decrease of 42.6%; Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was US $2 billion, down 78.2% year-on-year; EBITDA's profit margin was 17.5%, down 28.5% year-on-year; Net profit was US $388 million, down 94.5% year-on-year.
Among them, the comprehensive revenue of shipping business was US $7.6 billion, down 51.8% year-on-year, reflecting the continuous normalization of freight rates. EBITDA was US $1.6 billion, down 81.6% year-on-year. EBITDA profit margin was 21.0%, down 34% year-on-year; The average revenue per TEU was US $1,322, down 52.3% year-on-year.
Traffic volume increased by 0.9% compared with the same period in 2022, reaching 5.7 million TEU. CMA CGM explained that this was due to the decrease of inventory in the United States and the milder household consumption in an inflationary environment, and the traffic volume of north-south routes and offshore routes continued to increase, while the traffic volume of east-west routes further normalized.
