Maersk will lay off employees again! Third quarter revenue announcement!

On November 3rd, Maersk released its financial report. The data showed that the company's performance in the third quarter of 2023 met expectations.

However, the current market environment is becoming increasingly difficult, the freight rate is far lower than the peak reached in 2022, and the increase of shipping capacity continues to exert pressure.

Affected by the decline in freight rates and volume, Maersk's revenue this quarter was 12.1 billion US dollars, compared with 22.8 billion US dollars in the same period last year; In terms of shipping business, the volume increased by 9%, with a loss of 27 million US dollars, compared with 8.7 billion US dollars in the same period last year; The revenue of logistics and service business was 3.5 billion US dollars, compared with 4.2 billion US dollars in the same period last year; Revenue from the terminal business was $1 billion, compared with $1.1 billion in the same period last year. 

Considering the combination of price adjustment and cost measures, Maersk announced plans to reduce 3,500 employees, of which 2,500 employees will be affected before the end of the year and the rest will last until 2024.

       考虑到价格调整和成本措施相结合，马士基宣布计划进一步减员3500人，其中2500名员工将在年底前受到影响，其余延续到2024年。
